A smart approach to making technology a schoolwide priority is the concept of shared leadership. Shared leadership approach is best implemented through a school-based education technology committee. It places both the responsibility and the power for overseeing a school’s educational use of technology directly in the hands of the school faculty, and it prevents any one individual from being able to exercise undue control or influence over the allocation and use of the school’s technology resources.
Some recommendations:
1. Acquire technology incrementally.
2. Distribute technology resources to the teachers most eager to make an investment in using them.
3. Make professional development pay off.
4. Evaluate your progress in an ongoing process intended to monitor and reshape a program or initiative as needed.
